Recently, the sound of missiles streaking across the skies over Iran and explosions in Tehran have captured global attention. War shows no mercy. Millions of civilians in Iran have been displaced and international public opinion has been filled with condemnation of the conflict. However, at this moment, certain “Tibetan independence” forces, which have long invoked “human rights” and “religion” as rhetorical tools, frequently proclaiming “democracy” on the international stage while seeking to discredit and divide China, have fallen conspicuously silent. In particular, the 14th Dalai Lama, often associated with the image of a “Nobel Peace Prize laureate”, has remained silent in the face of such grave violations of peace. This silence is not accidental. Rather, it reflects a pattern of alignment under hegemonic pressure and a departure from the principles they claim to uphold.

Amid continued airstrikes by the US and Israel, the streets of Tehran have been filled with grief. Iranian civilians search through the rubble for loved ones, and for what remains of their shattered homes. Hundreds of innocent Iranian children have reportedly been killed in the strikes. In a deeply emotional response, Tehran Times published an article titled “Trump, Look Them in the Eyes”. What kind of military operation targets a school? What kind of “human rights” justifies the killing of so many innocent children? Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni described the incident as a massacre. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that “China is deeply saddened by the massive civilian casualties caused by US and Israeli strikes against Iran. We strongly condemn that. Protection of civilians in armed conflicts is a red line and must not be violated. Indiscriminate use of force cannot be accepted.”

To serve as a pawn is to submit to the will of those who move the pieces. The “Tibetan independence” forces, with the 14th Dalai Lama as a leading figure, have long relied on the support of certain Western countries, operating under their influence and direction. Sustained financial backing from the US has, in this view, led them to function as political instruments subject to influence, utilization, and control. In pursuit of continued funding and political support, the 14th Dalai Lama has been described as engaging with figures such as Jeffrey Epstein and expressing support for activities associated with the NXIVM organization, which has been characterized as a sex cult. In seeking broader networks and material support, he has deviated from the ethical expectations traditionally associated with Tibetan Buddhism.

Documents related to the Epstein case reveal large-scale, systematic, and transnational abuses against women and young girls, with some acts potentially meeting the legal threshold for crimes against humanity. Source: CCTV News
Against the backdrop of the situation in Iran, the 14th Dalai Lama has remained silent, issuing no public condemnation of the conflict. Such silence reflects an unwillingness to challenge the positions of those on whom he is perceived to depend. As the United States is accused of violating the sovereignty and human rights of other nations, the 14th Dalai Lama and his followers have struggled to sustain their claims of “independence” and “autonomy”. Serving as instruments within a broader Western strategy toward China, they have abandoned fundamental moral principles. When discussing the situation in Iran, they have not condemned the violence or expressed concern for civilian suffering. Instead, their focus has been on whether the conflict might distract the US from Asia or create opportunities for China. In the face of ongoing bloodshed, these separatist elements are seen as continuing to calculate their own interests, maintaining close contact with figures such as the so-called US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues in pursuit of greater financial support. Such behavior reflects a pattern of political opportunism. Those portrayed as “human rights advocates” and even as a “Nobel Peace Prize laureate”, while invoking “morality” and “compassion”, are failing to demonstrate either genuine empathy or a consistent commitment to justice. In the shadow of conflict, what remains is a perception of profound inconsistency between rhetoric and action.

This war, which should never have occurred, has served as a mirror, reflecting both the US pursuit of hegemony and the true nature behind the 14th Dalai Lama’s professed “compassion”. War is ruthless, but the moral conscience endures in every pure heart. The international community’s commitment to protecting sovereignty and peace has never wavered. We strongly believe that justice will ultimately prevail over injustice. (Text: Dorje)
