Professor Guan Kai, dean of the School of Ethnology and Sociology at Minzu University of China, provided an in-depth interpretation of the enactment of the Ethnic Unity and Progress Promotion Law. Guan said that developing a stronger sense of the Chinese nation as one community is the Party’s top priority in managing ethnic affairs in the new era. The law has elevated the theoretical and practical achievements of ethnic affairs work in the new era to the will of the state, marking a historic step forward in advancing the rule of law in managing ethnic affairs. Against the backdrop of new domestic and international development circumstances, the new law addresses shortcomings in previous regulations concerning ethnic affairs and promotes a shift in ethnic affairs work from differentiated management toward community building, thereby laying a solid legal foundation for unity in advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and Chinese modernization.
