Chaka Salt Lake Reveals a Different Kind of “Sky Mirror” on a Cloudy Day

2026-07-21  | China Tibet Online

On July 10, more than 100 teachers and students from Hong Kong visited Chaka Salt Lake Scenic Area in Qinghai Province for a study tour. Although cloudy skies meant they could not see the lakes iconic mirror-like reflections, Chaka Salt Lake offered a unique beauty.

The group admired the spectacular giant salt sculptures and tried their hand at salt carving, experiencing the charm of the regions salt culture through hands-on activities.

At the Chaka Salt Lake Museum, they learned about the lakes thousand-year history of salt production and the development of Chinas salt industry, gaining a deeper appreciation of the rich salt resources in China. Many of the participants said that Chaka Salt Lake was just as unforgettable on a cloudy day. Seeing its breathtaking landscape and experiencing its unique culture in person made the beauty of the motherland feel more vivid and tangible than ever before.
