On the afternoon of Aug. 22, 2016, President Xi Jinping visited Changjiangyuan Village in Tanglha Town, Golmud City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. Seeing that the villagers, who had relocated from the Yangtze River source area to Changjiangyuan Village under the national ecological conservation program for the Sanjiangyuan Area, enjoyed better living conditions, stable incomes, and broad access to basic medical insurance and pension insurance, President Xi said with satisfaction, “Your happy lives are only just beginning. I hope you all enjoy good health and long lives.”

Nearly a decade later, on July 9, 2026, retracing President Xi’s footsteps, the “Bringing Hearts Together” Medical Charity Campaign arrived in Changjiangyuan Village. Medical experts from Beijing provided volunteer medical services to local residents, including briefings on outpatient medical insurance policies for chronic and serious diseases, free medical consultations, and door-to-door visits offering medical care and medicines.
Villagers, young and old, came to seek medical advice. Many residents who had long suffered from chronic illnesses, as well as those with limited mobility who found it difficult to travel for treatment, received accurate diagnoses from the medical experts. Holding the medicines they had received free of charge, many villagers expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the visiting medical team.
