“I missed out on the Hangzhou Asian Games, so I wanted to seize this chance to compete for China. It was all worth it.”

After narrowly missing selection for the Hangzhou Asian Games, Tsering Tsomo raced to second place at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. On September 26, representing China, she fulfilled her dream of reaching the podium.  

Unburdened by her pre-race times, she gave it everything on the course. Starting out aiming for third place, she pushed for an even higher finish. Although fatigue kept her from taking gold, she gave it her all and showed what she was capable of.  

Tsering Tsomo said the honor would not have been possible without the dedication of her coach and team: “The medal belongs to China and the Xizang Mount Qomolangma Long-Distance Running Team.” She will continue to push herself toward even better results.  #AichiNagoya2026 #AsianGames #Marathon
