

Recently, villagers in Nam Village, Quxu County, Lhasa, Xizang, celebrated the annual Ongkor Festival. Dressed in their finest traditional attire, they circled the fields to pray for favorable weather and a bountiful harvest. In Tibetan, Ongkor literally means “circling the fields.”


As a traditional harvest festival in Xizang, it is listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage of China. The date of the celebration varies from place to place, depending on when local crops ripen.
