On August 26, a mudslide disaster struck Gyirong Port, triggered by an ice-rock avalanche originating from the Nepalese side of the border, causing casualties and leaving people missing. 

At the search-and-rescue site at Gyirong Port, a plush rabbit toy lay quietly in the mud amid the gray rubble. Ahead, rescuers raced against time in search-and-rescue efforts; behind them, small and tender acts of kindness were being quietly cherished. 

Following the disaster, people from all walks of life have expressed deep concern. Institutions from Hong Kong and Macao, along with individuals from home and abroad — including young American students who had just concluded a summer exchange in Xizang — sent messages of sympathy through China Tibet Online. 

They conveyed their respect for those working on the front lines of disaster relief and rescue, and encouraged residents in the affected areas to remain confident, stand together and work hard to advance post-disaster reconstruction efforts.
